Not to sound like I'm wimping out but plans have changed and there is a need to see if there are any motels close by the IRG, Pamplin Grove in which to have an older member of the family stay if she has to come along . Any info would be helpful at this point. It will mean the difference of even showing up there or not. I (we) have been looking forward to this trip but we may not be able to make it. We are looking at all options.
Thanks in advance! Sunny16

You may want to check expedia.com. It looks like Eureka will be the closest you will find a room. $60-150 a night. That would be 45 to 60 minutes from IRG.

I already found out that there are no rooms available in Fortuna due to the car show. So, I will keep looking. Thanks.

Sunny, PM me if you don't find a place soon, but try the outlying town of Rio Dell/Scotia as they are farther to the south of Fortuna. There are no big chain places, but you might find a mom and pop type place to stay. The place Dean mentioned above is a big yellow farmhouse that has been converted into a nice B&B.
If no motels are available, maybe I can find someone locally who will take on a part time boarder that lives close by. Worse case scenario, I'll put out the folding twin bed in my classroom at school and they can stay there!!

Thanks TDN. We are still trying to figure out what we are going to do. I won't bore you with the details but it's tough with a mother-in law with the start of demensia/Alsheimers (can't spell) living with one's family. Anyway, we are working on it. We would love to be there.

Yes, it is, Sunny. My Dad is 85 now and he and my Mom have been married for 60 yrs. He's been traveling down that "old timers highway" for a bit now, so I do understand. He and my Mom will be coming down to the IRG on Friday or Saturday...possibly both if they can handle all the excitement. They definitely love the good food. They came to the first IRG Sat. night Potluck and really enjoyed it. We invite them to our local DOGS up here as well. My Dad still sure can eat though!! Hoping for the best, preparing for the alternative. Joanie :hope:
