Is there cell phone service at Pamplin Grove?

What is the ice situation in the area?

Is there a store close to the grove?

No cell phone signal at the grove, you have to drive back to Carlotta just a few miles west. There's a good sized market in Hydesville a few more miles to the west.

Go West a few miles for phone service, a few more for the store.
There is also a store about equal distance to the East at Swains Flat.
Prettier drive, but no phone service in that direction for quite some distance... Maybe on the top of South Fork Mountain?

Over the years I have quested to find a signal that would be reliable on that leg of the redwoods.  You just don't know until you try.  One time when I was at the grove I was able to get a signal way down on the river bar at the opposite end of the swim hole.  Another time I had to go a few miles and pull over at an opening to phone.  The pay phone at Swimmer's Delight, mile and a half away, is accessible all the time if you don't get a signal.  Remember, you are DEEp in the woods and coastal range mountains.

The Murrish Market nearby (12-15 minutes west) has 24 hr. ( with credit card ) gas pumps.  The market itself is just about a year old and has a deli as well.  Fortuna has bigger grocery stores, like Safeway, and is about 25-30 minutes away from the grove.  The Murrish Market should have ice as well.
